RESEARCH

The main research interests are connected with investigations on biophysical effects
in nanobiosystems at molecular level:
mechanisms and thermodynamics of intermolecular interactions of biomolecules
in the framework of problems of molecular mechanisms of action
of biologically active compounds and medicines, hydration, molecular recognition,
selfassembly of organic nanoclusters and functioning of bionanocomposites
applying experimental mass spectrometric techniques complemented by computer modeling:

  • peculiarities of interactions of biomolecules with their ion-solvate medium at low temperatures,
biomolecules on ice, cryobiophysics, cryoprotectors, hydration and dehydration
  • molecular mechanisms of action of chemotherapeutic
    (anticancer and antimicrobial) drugs
  • formation and self-assembling of biologically significant nanoparticles
  • interactions of biomolecules with nanomaterials, bionanocomposites
  • redox activity of biomolecules and biologically active compounds
  • intermolecular interactions of biomolecules in the gas phase
  • cluster science, nanoclusters of organic and inorganic compounds

Advancement of soft ionization mass spectrometric techniques
(Field Desorption (FD), Field Ionization (FI), Fast Atom Bombardments (FAB)
Laser desorption/ionization (LDI), Electrospray ionization)
for investigation of the above listed problems.
Development of Low Temperature (LT) secondary emission (FAB and SIMS)
mass spectrometric techniques dedicated to cryobiophysical studies
of biomolecules at low temperatures.
Development of approach to evaluation of redox activity of organic molecules
under mass spectrometric conditions.
Development of mass spectrometry fundamentals.
