B.Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering carries out scientific researches in a priority direction of development of a science and technics " Basic researches on the major problems of natural, public sciences and the humanities " in compliance with  the Law of Ukraine from 11.07.2001 № 2623-III.

The basic directions of researches of  B.Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering according to decision Presidium of the National Academy of sciences of Ukraine from 12.01.2005  № 1:

1. In the field of experimental and theoretical physics:
    

   • the Electronic phenomena in spending and superconducting systems;

   • physics of quantum liquids, liquid and cryocrystal;

   • low  temperature magnetism;

   • biophysics, low  temperature physics of macromolecules.
      

2. In the field of mathematics:
    

   • the mathematical physics and the mathematical analysis;

   •  geometry and topology.
      

3. In the field of applied physics:
    

   • low temperature materiology and instrument making.
